Tips for Your Lips

Lipstick is the icing on the cake, in terms of your makeup.  Lipstick creates a sophisticated and sexy look that can top off any style, but only when used properly.  A girl should always wear a lipstick that is only two or three shades darker than her lip color.  For light skin, I suggest warm pinks.  For a medium tone, stick to light reds or dark pinks.  Dark complexion, it’s up to you!  Light pink to dark red - whatever it is, you’ll look great!

One rule of thumb:  apply lipstick in the mirror.  Without one, you’ll end up creating a mess.  Chances are, you’ll look like a mess too.  Line the lips with lip liner first, if you wish.  Start applying lipstick on your upper lip first, and slowly work your way down.  Don’t lose focus, or you might get lipstick on your skin or teeth.

Here are some more tips for your lips:

If you are self-conscious about your smile, wear a bright red lipstick.  Your teeth will appear much lighter.

Wear a lip balm underneath your lipstick to prevent dryness.

If you want a wet, shimmery look, after you apply your lipstick, put on a layer of lip gloss over it.  This will give you the perfect combo of matte color and shine.

To make your lipstick last longer, apply a concealer to the outer edge of the lips.  This will help keep your lipstick say on longer.

For special occasions, experiment!  Don’t be afraid of deep reds, purples, or even exotic colors.  Make sure you combine the dark lipsticks with light eyes and a subtle blush.  Dark lips with dark eyes is just too dark.  By properly mixing your make ups, you’ll make sure that the focus stays on your lips.

Never put lipstick on a pig.
