We are living in a truly amazing time in human history.  So much is happening now that promises to bring us all together in ways never before possible and we get to see it or hear about it all, almost instantly.  Constant transformation and a steady flow of information and in it all, one can’t help but to look for the hand of the archangel Gabriel.

In Islam, it is believed the angel Gabriel was the medium God used to reveal the Qu’ran to Muhammad, and that he informed the prophets of their obligations.  Gabriel is called the chief of the four favored angels and known as the spirit of truth.

Gabriel is also mentioned in the writings of the Baha’i Faith, notably in Baha’u'llah’s mystical work Seven Valleys.

In Christianity, Gabriel is said to be the angel that informed Mary of how she would conceive Jesus.   According to Latter Day Saints theology, Gabriel lived as a mortal as the patriarch Noah.

In Hindu tradition the role of important messenger of God is performed by Narada.  Referred to as one of the greatest devotees of Vishnu he travels the three worlds singing the praise of the Lord and is welcomed everywhere with respect.  Narada narrated the Ramayana to Maharshi Valmiki and asked Maharshi Ved Vyasa to write the Mahabharata.

Always the messenger, the announcer, the conveyor, running deeply through many different cultures on our planet, the angel Gabriel, shows up for us with an answer to all of our most confusing situations and a solution to our most vexing problems.  That after all, is what Gabriel does.  Gabriel brings us news and we are informed.  We look at others all around the world and see different cultures and different appearances but our concerns are so very much the same for our lives and the planet that we want to leave for our children and their children.

Our heavenly messengers are everywhere when our need is greatest and we have only to make them and their message welcome.  By finding a way to be still and listen, we invite divine solutions in our lives and the lives of our neighbors whether the word comes from our friends mistakes or through someone named Narada or Noah or Gabriel.
